    • Yeah, that's too many buttons to replace with physical buttons. My design experience. If I have to put an HMI outside like this, I always used an industrial PC screen and ran the application on it that way.  If you fix this, some kind of a sun shade would help alot I bet. Kind of like this, where you can close it up when you are not using it.
    • This was years ago last time it worked. This was another issue we faced….errors galore. Sigh.    there was one other screen with a diagram of the track to bring up this base screen for which ever traffic light system you chose.
    • Our setup is a circular driving track with 4 booths spread evenly. Each booth has one of these panels with our main booth having a larger panel of same brand. The goal of the project was to allow each panel to control whichever traffic light we wanted around the track. At each booth I can see that the switches coincide with the closest traffic light hard wire. Above is a picture of “booth 3” which is close to 2 separate traffic lights (7 and 9)  I do have pictures of the program long before it malfunctioned. I will dig deep to find them. The program was made by the engineer for our needs. Had a diagram of the track and each light, etc.    I will try to disassemble the touch screen and take to our auto shop to clean with air. I will note that all 4 touchscreens show the same error.    I have considered wiring a gang box toggle switches above these switches….   To the gentleman who offered to stop by if he was in the area, you have an open invite if you are ever around. I know with distance and also the worst traffic in the country it can be dreadful so I understand.
    • It doesnt sounds really good for your PLC... As another user answered you on another forum, it's the sign you need to replace it. At the question: What is a CPU error and a WDT error (watchdog timer error)? Omron support answered that on their website:
    • It would not. Also, it sounds like you have multiple screens. Does the system require all of them? How many? Do you have multiple PLCs as well?
    • Unfortunately no. Because it's trying to do a self check on boot.  The outdoor in the sun is probably why you had a premature failure on the screen I would assume. If you replace it, it probably won't live long again the second time.  Do you happen to have a screen shot of the the screens on the HMI? How many buttons did the touch screen have? Because in this case, you might be better off wiring in hard buttons to the PLC and not using the screen if it was not that many buttons.  If you did replace the screen, I would advise that you put a screen protector on the next one like a guard. The Panel View 600 is really rated for indoor NEMA 4X only according to the manual. No Panelview can survive direct sunlight without a sun light shade...
    • The error is specific to each screen. It is derived from the firmware of the screen and has nothing to do with the application or PLC. The touch screen portion has a stuck touch switch. As a last ditch effort, I would use compressed air to flush out around the edges of the screen. Then use a cloth and massage the screen to loosen the entire touch area. Reboot and repeat if necessary.  After this, one of us can post instructions to retrieve the application file from the screen. This should still be possible. From here we can determine what the screen does and what you may require to use this traffic light controller.    I don't think any of us will be surprised. The majority of our work is industrial. There is a lot of money in automated manufacturing. The equipment is expensive and our time is expensive.  I would like to just drop by, but a day trip through Baltimore and DC is more time than I can afford right now. I've suffered that trip many times.
    • You are seeing correctly my friend. We got taken for a ride…..if you only knew how much my organization paid for this setup.    These units are outside with no HVAC. They did not function for very long.    Would a USB mouse defeat the touchscreen error?
    • Once you get it to boot, yes you should be able to stick a mouse into the USB PORT and drive it around. Second question on your Environment. I am seeing a GLIMPSE of the outside? Is that exposed to direct sunlight all the time or outside 24/7?
    • One thing I’ve always wondered is if we could find a way to use the screen with just a mouse. We aren’t fans of touchscreen anyway!
