I converted several machines with GP477R to GP2500 a few months ago. The process if pretty easy. I use the Pro-Face GP-PRO/PB3 software to program the units. Connect your computer to the GP77R unit and transfer the project from the unit to the computer. (GP-PRO software doesn’t use upload and download, you go to the transfer screen and their terminology is send and receive, Send is computer to HMI, Receive is HMI to computer.) In the GP-PRO software there will be an option to change the GP type. Select the 2000 series and then the exact model number. After you select the new model number you will get a message box that pops up on you computer screen saying something like some features may not function the same. I never had any problems with the touch screen functionality. The only thing you might run in to is that since the screens are not the same size, the items being displayed on the screen might not fit exactly the same way as before, so you might have to modify the layout of the screens using the GP-PRO software. Connect your computer to the GP2000 series unit and transfer the project. One issue I did run into on a couple of machines when doing this was that when I loaded the project into the GP2500 I had communication problems with the PLC. I found out that there had been several software updates for the GP-PRO software that needed to be installed. So, before you start, you might want to check on the internet and download any software updates. Hope this helps.
