Lee D Posted April 15, 2007 Report Posted April 15, 2007 I have recently purchased a F1-30MR and a F1-20P from EBay for the purpose of learning a little about PLCs. I have downloaded the manuals from Mitsubishi. I am paranoid about burning it up so excuse the dumb questions. After you wire the PLC to 110V, how do you start it running (if there is a program in it)? I see the "Run" connection. If I put a pushbutton on it, what do I wire the other end to? Does it go to 24V lug or Common lug or where? Or can I start it running from the F1-20P? Basically, I want to view the program first and erase it and then create my own simple program. So the next part of the question would be where do the inputs and outputs get connected to? Do they go through a device (switch for input, light for output) and the other side to Common or 24V or where? Hoepfully my questions make sense. Thanks Quote
Goody Posted April 15, 2007 Report Posted April 15, 2007 The F1 is a very old PLC - but if you have the hand held programmer it can teach you how to program. Your questions are not dumb - they are perfectly reasonable and I understand that you dont want to fry your new toy. The inputs are 24Vdc. There will be a 24v and a 0v connection. Your field devices (ie limit switches etc) will be supplied by the 24Vdc terminal and then connected to the inputs. If there is a run terminal - then you can put 24v direct to this. I cannot remember how they do the 0v on this model, usually this is linked to the ss terminal. The outputs can be any voltage you like and even a mixture of voltages. The common terminal is your supply voltage and this is passed through an internal relay (an output) to your output - this is turned on by your program. There are probably several commons and these relate to the next outputs until another common terminal. Quote
Lee D Posted April 15, 2007 Author Report Posted April 15, 2007 Thanks for the info. I am going to try it out shortly and I'll advise how it goes. Quote
Crossbow Posted April 16, 2007 Report Posted April 16, 2007 The manuals for the F1 are available from www.meau.com in the Downloads section, under Manuals, Industrial Automation, PLC, PLC-F. They cover wiring, programming, etc. Quote
