Steve Cheung Posted June 16, 2007 Report Posted June 16, 2007 Hi Friends, Anybody experience in link between MMI (ex: visual basic, C++) and Speed Monitoring through serial cable at the PU of Mitsubishi Inverter FR-F700? What is the opc server should be used? Thanks & best regards, Steve Quote
Paul Ked Posted June 17, 2007 Report Posted June 17, 2007 Sorry, no. But I would suggest that the manufacturer of the HMI (MMI died many years ago - politically incorrect) you are using could point you in the right direction. If you only want to communicate with the drive, do you really need an OPC Server/Client? As a point of fact, if you require the speed monitoring of something, then you need an input of some kind to ensure the command you give is the command it is obeying. Eg. I told my assistent to take a rest 3 times a day. He told me he only took two. Do I believe that?... Some form of feedback from the motor/process line etc. is needed to complete the loop of control, otherwise you only get monitoring of the speed you tell it to go and not the actual speed it is doing! mjrx Posted June 18, 2007 Report Posted June 18, 2007 I think the PU connector is going to allow Mitsubishi protocol only. There is an rs485 terminal on the F700's that will allow Modbus comms, most HMI's can do this. Quote
Steve Cheung Posted June 18, 2007 Author Report Posted June 18, 2007 Hi MJRX, Where I can find information regarding the modbus register used in link to the inverter? Thanks & best regards, Steve Quote
mjrx Posted June 25, 2007 Report Posted June 25, 2007 In the Mitsubishi F700 inverter manual pages 163-167 explains wiring, pages 178-188 shows Modbus register assignment. Quote
Derickvdw Posted July 1, 2007 Report Posted July 1, 2007 The rs485 port on the inverter might not work with modbus protocol. Try using ASCII codes for that. Or id you realy want to use modbus for comms, use an option card. Fr-A5nm ( or FR-a7nm for that series) then use modbus plus. Attached find the manual for the registers. Work through carefully. It does work. Quote
mjrx Posted July 2, 2007 Report Posted July 2, 2007 Like I said in previous post, "In the Mitsubishi F700 inverter manual pages 163-167 explains wiring, pages 178-188 shows Modbus register assignment" It does work with Modbus, I do it all the time. Quote
Crossbow Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 He's talking about F700, not A500 or F500. F700 and A700 have built in Modbus. Quote
Steve Cheung Posted July 11, 2007 Author Report Posted July 11, 2007 Dear Friends, Thank you very much for your's sharing information. I have out of station, will continue to work again with F700 as your gentlement advices. Thanks & best regards, Steve Quote
