nhuwar Posted November 9, 2007 Report Posted November 9, 2007 I would like to say Hi to everyone on the forum my name is Nick. I don't know anything about plc's but in a effort to learn I got 2 melsec f-20cm, melsec f-20cp, and a melsec fi or is it f1 40mr on ebay. I got it to learn and to use it for a project I am building. I will be using it to control what would be sort of equivalent to a broadcast radio transmitter. I'm trying to find manuals for these units to learn to set it up to control power on delays and monitor current draws to protect certian expenxive componants. And to keep things running safe. I would appreciate any help thats is given. Thanks a whole lot, Nick
Rodney Posted November 9, 2007 Report Posted November 9, 2007 (edited) Hi Nick The F Series P.L.C has been around for a long time and maybe you would have been better to have purchaced a more modern controller because the function are not straight forward. I have attached is a copy of the F1 Programming manual and there are other manuals available on the Mitsubishi website. Good Luck Rodney Nick can you give me your E-mail address as I can not attach the manual Edited November 9, 2007 by Rodney
nhuwar Posted November 9, 2007 Author Report Posted November 9, 2007 Thanks I will take a look. I figuared it was older then dirt but newer one pull a pretty heavy price tag on ebay. I have another one coming in tomorrow from ebay but I think it's even older. It's a Allen Bradley plc 2/16 but it doesn't have the programmer with it so I would have to acquire in another acution. Well thanks again for the insight, Nick
Crossbow Posted November 9, 2007 Report Posted November 9, 2007 The manuals for the F are on www.meau.com in the Downloads, Manuals section. Choose Industrial Automation, PLC, PLC-F
nhuwar Posted November 10, 2007 Author Report Posted November 10, 2007 Is this unit created for motion control? Nick
Fredrix Posted November 10, 2007 Report Posted November 10, 2007 What are you going to control in the radio transmitter? I am currently working on a broadcast radio tuner. I use a Omron PLC to control a giant variable capacitor and two big variable inductors.
nhuwar Posted November 10, 2007 Author Report Posted November 10, 2007 Well there is no tuning that it will control. Its jut for the power on squence and to monitor for overload situations on the tube for a quick shut. It's not a radio transmitter I just used that as a analogy its actually a pulse fired tesla coil ran with a 4pr1000a and a 7.5 kilowatt dc power supply. I will be monitoring grid current and plate current as I said for overload interlocks. The main thing is the power on sequence which has many delays in it, about 5. There are 3 on the high voltage alone do to the 2 separate capacitor banks. There is the usual filament delay and ipa power up which account for the rest. The rest of it will be figuared out at a later time and date. Nick
