Hello everyone! Have anyone any experience from profinet yet? Does it work good, and are the childdisease gone? Should I go over from profibus and start with profinet? Please share your experience... Best Regards //edmund Edited by edda

My Opinion: If you are currently using Profibus then stick with it, it's a mature technology, you understand it, and it has multi vendor support. For a new project, consider Profinet, but depending upon what you doing with it (just remote I/O, or more advanced comms), you may still want to stick with Profibus if the application is Remote I/O, after all Profibus was designed for remote I/O solutions, Profinet takes another technology, and adds another layer of complexity in order to get it to do what Profibus does 'out of the box'. Personally I have always found that Siemens support for Profibus is good, with very few configuration and commissioning issues. I only have one experience of Profinet, in a remote I/O configuration, and I couldnt see any advantages Mike
