simonhodge Posted September 26, 2008 Report Posted September 26, 2008 It seems with GX Developer that the default port is COM 1. However we have just changed to new PC's and the serial cables are now into either COM 3 or 4. I have found out how to change the COM port in GX but once i shut the software down and restart it defaults back to COM 1. As I have 12 FX-1Ns and in a classroom situation, there is no way i can get the students to go in and change the COM port each time they want to download their programs. Is there any way of changing the default in the software. My reason for not wanting to change the default on the PC is incase it messes up something else that the PC uses. Thanks
Gambit Posted September 26, 2008 Report Posted September 26, 2008 I've checked it on my version but my GX Dev version keeps the COM port setting whihc was defined in the project. I use version v8.72A
Crossbow Posted September 27, 2008 Report Posted September 27, 2008 Transfer setup defaults to the same last used. So if you save a project with COM3 selected, the next new project should default to the same PLC type and transfer setup. You can change the COM port to 1 if you don't have another device on COM1. And if you are using a USB to serial, you should be able to make it any COM port you want. COM3 would typically be the built in modem on a laptop.
