Siemens IO and WAGO/B&R IO

Hey, I'm working on an installation that uses Siemens ET200M Interface modules for distrubuted IO (paired with Siemens AI,DI,DQ modules). The CPU is a S7-300 and for some reason my boss has asked me to use WAGO or B&R IO modules for one remote section of the factory. Can anyone think of a reason why he would of suggested that? There must be some disadvantage of doing it this way or i can't think of a reason why he wouldn't of used the WAGO/B&R IO for the entire installation. I'm new to the company and industry and my boss is on holiday otherwise i'd ask him.. Thanks for any help, Ross
