Kevin Do Posted December 15, 2008 Report Posted December 15, 2008 Hi Everyone, I've been using CX-Programmer for a couple of months now and noticed one day that the PLC-PT Integrated Simulation and online sumulator was faded out, meaning I couldn't start them up. The shortcut icons on the toolbar for them was also faded out. It seemed like these two options were disabled somehow. I called Omron up and they were stomped as to why it had happened and they have never heard of it fading out before. Has anyone ever had this happen before? I got the simulators to show up again when I put the CX-One cd in and did a repair on the existing installation.
PdL Posted December 15, 2008 Report Posted December 15, 2008 PLC-PT integrated simulation and PLC simulator is only available for for specific processors in CX-Programmer: If you do have one of these processors selected and still no available options, there are multiple reports of this problem here. In this topic you find a fix that worked for me: CX-Simulator disabled from within CX-Programmer ? Re-installing CX-One also fixes these registry keys. Do you use any disk cleaning software that also cleans registry keys?
Kevin Do Posted December 15, 2008 Author Report Posted December 15, 2008 Hi PdL, Thanks for the feedback. So it is a registry key problem? I have tried re-installing CX-One and it worked for me when this problem first occurred, on the second occurance I just did a program repair and it seemed to fix it as well. Seems like this is a re-occurring thing, I have a feeling it might be my Norton Antivirus that's deleting the registry keys.
PdL Posted December 16, 2008 Report Posted December 16, 2008 Hi Kevin, Yes it is a registry key problem. There is a registry key that defines the patch CX-Simulator is installed. For some reason registry key cleaners mark this key as invalid and delete it.... Probably CX-Programmer determines if CX-Simulator is installed or not by checking for this key when launching the application. Key present means CX-Simulator is installed, key not present means it is not installed. The cleaner I use has an option to manually add keys to skip the cleaning process. Another workaround would be to create a *.reg file (notepad file saved as *.reg) with one of the path keys as described in this topic (sorry the link above missed the mrplc url) You would have to check what folder CX-Simulator is installed and apply the key accordingly every time CX-Simulator becomes unavailable. CX-Simulator disabled from within CX-Programmer ?, What am I missing? Please note that any modification done to your system registry is your own responsibilty!!!
