Sajid Posted January 25, 2009 Report Posted January 25, 2009 Hi Friends, I am trying to select Momentum platform for a certain project I am working on. After having gone through the catalogues for Momentum I have selected Processor, I/O bases, Communication adapters(Modbus Plus). The problem is I have a lot of field devices like Power meters (Modbus)that I want to communicate with. How do I connect these in my system and what adapters do I have to select? Thanks for your replies.
Mike Lamond Posted January 25, 2009 Report Posted January 25, 2009 From your description, it sounds like you're using Modbus Plus to connect the processor to the I/O bases. That lets you pick a processor adapter with an RS-485 Modbus port to communicate with multiple field devices, either 171 CCC 780 10 with an RS-232 Modbus port or 171 CCC 980 30 with an Ethernet port. If a device has only an RS-232 port, use an RS-485/RS-232 converter. The XMIT function supports either 2-wire or 4-wire connection under the 984LL and the IEC executives. Mike
aggattapauer Posted January 26, 2009 Report Posted January 26, 2009 Hi Sajid, let me understand why are you still choosing so old equipments? If you explained me what you need perhaps I could help you. Which kind of process? How many I/O? Which kind of network actually is present?
