I'm not quite sure what you mean by "skips", but memory loss could be a battery issue. The battery could be low or the battery connection faulty. It could also be a rack/power supply issue. The power supply is an integral part of the rack. The part number for the rack includes the power supply. Back in the day, the power supply was the most frequently replaced item. You should be aware that the Series One is the same product as the Automation Direct DL305. Many of the GE Fanuc part numbers have direct replacements from Automation Direct. In fact, some of the CPU models can be programmed with the Automation Direct software.

skips : meaning it runs a car wash and sometimes drops a program for a car such as doesnt deliver wax correctly... but it only seems to do it when we are busy and cars are close together,,and a system reset fixes it everytime....the only person i have found to work on this unit is all the way in Texas...were in Oklahoma,,,its very old and is programmed with recorded tones!

Working properly some times and not at others sounds like a problem with I/O or the program not adequately handling the number of cars backed up during the busy times. Ah yes, the program is backed up on casette tape and downloaded through the handheld programmer. You could try stepping through the program using the handheld and writing down the program steps. Then post it here and someone might be willing to evaluate it for you. Some of those old CPU units only had 700 words of memory, so that's not necessarily as daunting as it sounds. You might also be able to locate someone closer to come in and help you. The Series One was a pretty popular unit. The same product was also sold by Texas Instruments as the TI305. Then Siemens bought TI's PLC business and continued to offer the product as the Siemens TI305. Try calling your local GE Fanuc or Siemens distributor and asking if they can put you in touch with someone closer to you who could come in and help. In case you don't already have one, the Series One manual is available in the downloads section here at MrPLC.com
