Guest TALKERR Posted March 13, 2004 Report Posted March 13, 2004 I have a Digital Proface GP477 Screen. When I upload a program that is in English Text all of the text appears in another format. any clues? I am using Windows Pro 111 software. Quote
Beryl Posted March 15, 2004 Report Posted March 15, 2004 Some questions. Is the text that is in another format on the touch screen? Is the touch screen configuration buttons in english? The software, is it GP Pro PBIII? If the problem is the language format it is changable in the config screens or if you download. Answer the above questions and I may be able to help. Quote
Guest TALKERR Posted March 15, 2004 Report Posted March 15, 2004 The text on the configuration buttons is in English if I go into the configuration menu. Yes the Software is PB 111. The text on the panel is in english but when it is uploaded it arrives in characters that are in the ascii menu. They are not in another language but when I view the Ascii menu they are Ascii caracters lower down the Ascii table. All of the text objects on the screens are in this changed format but the text in most of the buttons as far as I can remember, as I am at home and need to check, are in English and unchanged. Make sence? regards Quote
Beryl Posted March 15, 2004 Report Posted March 15, 2004 Boy you got me. I have never seen this before. I will have to refer you to someone else. This is a good place to start. Talk to Larry at the Elk Grove location. Good luck Quote
JimRowell Posted March 16, 2004 Report Posted March 16, 2004 I'm not familiar with what you are using but you should double check your communication settings. It's possible to have pseudo-successful communication with certain incorrect combinations of baud rate, data bits, etc. It shouldn't happen if your software and hmi are checking the data properly but not everything does. It's worth being extra sure that your setttings are correct before pulling your hair out looking elsewhere. Jim Rowell Quote
Guest TALKERR Posted March 17, 2004 Report Posted March 17, 2004 I may have found the problem with my screen. It looks like the screens were developed using Japanese software. This means that it used 2 bytes per character against ours of only 1 Byte for standard Ascii. The reason I can read it in English on the Panel is that the normal Englist text characters are available in the Japanese set so they programmed english within the Japanese 2 byte system. If only I had Japenese Software and could read it. Does this sound like a likley explaination? Its just my theory after reading about Japanese and chinese character sets on the net and the origonal machine origonated in Japan. Thanks for your help and interest. Regards Quote
