Iautom8 Posted June 2, 2009 Report Posted June 2, 2009 I recently received three (3) NS Designer files from a customer for modification (I can not upload because of confidentiality reasons). However, when I open the .ipp files a window pops up that asks me to choose a screen to open. However, all the screens are blank. When I do choose a screen NS Designer asks if I want to use an existing screen or create a new one. Looking in the folder that is associated with the .ipp file all the screens are present. I just don't know if the .ipp file is recognizing the folder that houses all the screens. I have seen this before in the past, but since I have not used Omron in the last couple of years, I have forgotten a lot. Has anyone experienced this in the past, and what could be the resolution? Thanks.
PdL Posted June 2, 2009 Report Posted June 2, 2009 The folder and *.ipp file should be named identically, and the *.ipp file and project folder should both be in the same directory. E.g. c:\my projects\NSproject\ would be the data folder and the *.ipp file should be c:\my projects\NSproject.ipp Hope this makes sense?
Iautom8 Posted June 2, 2009 Author Report Posted June 2, 2009 Yes, this makes sense! The .ipp file and folder were in the same folder. The issue turned out to be that the screens were zipped in a different folder than the .ini files. For example: HMI/Sta10/Sta10_V004/Sta10_V004 Where Sta10 folder contained the .ipp file and the folder Sta10_V004 with the .ini files. The second Sta10_V004 contained the screens only. NS Designer would not "dig deep" enough to get to the second Sta10_V004 folder which contained the screens. I copied all the screens and pasted them up one level, so to speak, with the .ini files and now the projects open with no problems. Thank you for you help.
PdL Posted June 2, 2009 Report Posted June 2, 2009 The reason the *.ipp file was located in the data folder could be that it was already an upload copy or a copy from a memory card after the project was transferred by NS Designer for download purposes despite you perhaps didn't make the upload/download yourself. When NS designer downloads the files to a terminal or to a memory card, it puts the *.ipp file in the data folder. But for editing the project it needs to be next and not in the data folder. Hope this clears up a little bit!
