notricks Posted April 5, 2004 Report Posted April 5, 2004 Hi, i'm looking for a new notebook, but it seems that it's not easy to find a notebook with COM port nowdays (at least in Europe...). They all suggest port replicators. I never tryed a usb port replicator to interface with a plc... Does anyone tryed it? Thanks, Luis Quote
BobB Posted April 5, 2004 Report Posted April 5, 2004 The Omron works pretty well. I only get an occassional drop out and have to re-boot the laptop. Does not happen often. Part No CS1W-CIF31. Quote
Jimbo Posted April 5, 2004 Report Posted April 5, 2004 Hello, I was in the same situation. I had a new laptop but the com port was missing. They gave me an usb com port and it worked fine with all software (phoenix contact, lenze drives, com debug tools, scada software, ... ) but i had a problem with mitsubshi. The solution was installing service pack 1 of windows Xp and i never had a problem again. Greetz, Jim Quote
Guest format C Posted April 6, 2004 Report Posted April 6, 2004 I use a Belkin USB to 232 port replicator with various AB software, with no problem. I have a 232 on my laptop but the Belkin saves having to unplug when working on a PLC & HMI at the same time. Jon Quote
