logging run time with a ns8-tv01b-v2

Hi all I need to log the time production stops and when it starts again to have a total of run time and idle time for the shift as well as time for each incident. I do this now in excel with dde, it just watches certain bits for errors and on the main bit for running or idle. now we are adding the PT (my first omron, only maple systems before) but i'm not sure what the RIGHT way to do this should most of the work be done in the plc (no clock installed) or in the PT which i think could be done close to what the dde system was This is how I've been doing it if anyone would like to learn from it. it has worked quite well for 6 years. example.xls
