peiriannwr Posted January 22, 2010 Report Posted January 22, 2010 Hello Everybody, 1st let me explain my background a little. I'm a mechanical engineer (not long graduated) and am looking into learning how to use/program PLC's. So I have found a copy of GX Developer that a friend has been kind enough to let me have and I'm having trouble even starting a new project. When I set the new project screen as shown above I get the below error in reply. When I try to start a new project as above I get the below error. Sorry if I've over simplified this though I thought the screen dumps would be an easier way to illustrate my question/problem. Any thoughts as to how I could get around this problem? Many thanks, Jon
panic mode Posted January 22, 2010 Report Posted January 22, 2010 did you try C: drive instead H:? do you have write access to that drive and folder?
peiriannwr Posted January 22, 2010 Author Report Posted January 22, 2010 Hey, Thanks for replying. H: is my C: drive in this case. It just confuses me that is mentions that a project I haven't created yet is already open. Nothing else has a problem opening/writing on my H: drive.
Crossbow Posted January 23, 2010 Report Posted January 23, 2010 What version of GX Developer? Of course your description makes us think you have an illegal copy of the software though. Your friend gave it to you is not typically the legal method of installing software.
peiriannwr Posted January 23, 2010 Author Report Posted January 23, 2010 The product information reads "GX Developer Version 8.20W (SW8D5C-GPPW-E)"
Crossbow Posted January 24, 2010 Report Posted January 24, 2010 8.20 is quite old, a few years. What version of Windows are you trying to run it on? According to all the information I've seen, the English version didn't even have FX3U or FX3UC until 8.25.
peiriannwr Posted January 24, 2010 Author Report Posted January 24, 2010 Hello, I've re-installed developer now for the 4th time and now the program appears to work correctly - or at least it will let me start a new project so I can now start to learn. Thank you crossbow and panic mode for your help.
