pmcmahill Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 I am looking at a project that will require communication between a machine with a Rx3i controller and a machine that already has a Control Logix controller. I know the Rx3i has a Ethernet card available, but is it cable of communicating with EthernetIP protocol to a COntrol Logix?
RussB Posted February 17, 2011 Report Posted February 17, 2011 The RX3i Ethernet has these protocols available today. 1. SRTP ( GEIP proprietary) 2. EGD (GEIP Shared) 3. Modbus TCPIP (Open) Other options may be Profibus or Devicenet.
JohnM Posted February 18, 2011 Report Posted February 18, 2011 There are modules sold by ProSoft that will read and write between ControlLogix (another for CompactLogix) and GE devices using Ethernet Global Data. One limitation is that only integer data can be used - this is a Logix Backplane limitation. http://www.prosoft-t...logix/mvi56_egd
