RFID Serial Reader

Hello Everybody, I'm new on RFID field and i would like to have a suggestion. In my configuration I use OMRON but it's a general question so i write here. I need to read datas from a RFID tag (I want a tag like credit card i.e, not industrial tags) and trasmit to PLC through Serial. Anyone has experience on that? My system is a kind of parking where people enter using his own tag and where they can charge minutes of parking or only enter (and I calculate how many minutes they can park) I've seen that Omron has his system but is too expensive for no-industrial situation. If looking at non-industrial and low cost you'll probably want some sort of PC based system and use OPC to pass the necessary data to youir PLC. Can't suggest any specifics as I lack current experience.
