<henry> Posted April 24, 2012 Report Posted April 24, 2012 Hi, Just wondering if there are any main differences between the use of a CPU (such as a Quantum) for IO scanning as opposed to using an NOE. I know there are some differences in diagnostics, but are there any significant performance differences considering these are two different hardware types? Cheers, Henry Quote
billysmithde2 Posted April 24, 2012 Report Posted April 24, 2012 Performance on the built-in Ethernet port can be better in terms of scan time impact to the IOScanner service. They both support the same number of devices / maximum process image (4096 words in and out, if I recall correctly), but the scantime impact of using the built-in port will be much lower then when using an NOE.
