GT Designer 3 user security

hello all can anybody guide about how to get current user name in GT Designer 3 software? Thanks in advance

Security in the GOT series is very basic, only a password, no user name. If you want security with a user name, you will have to program it with the PLC.

hi ross In GT Designer 3 they have mentioned that for GT16 HMI we can set opeartor name & password with Extended function OS. DO you any idea about it? Please let me know if u hv done this in GT 16

GT15 and GT16 support a feature called Operator Authentication, where the usernames and passwords are set on the GOT, with each user being assigned a security level. The objects on the screen can be assigned view and operate security levels. GOT900 series did not have these features. It's an OS component you will configure in system settings and then install during the download.

hi admin \ thanx for info but when we need to assign control to screens or buttons ? i mean to say if we hv to create users after downloading the OS in GT16/15? how can we access user info in our development version and assign different controls to users? waiting for ur reply!!!

Can't set users on PC, must be done on terminal when using operator authentication. These security methods are explained in the GOT1000 Screen Design Manual (Fundamentals).
