BAK96 Posted September 30, 2012 Report Posted September 30, 2012 Any one have any good suggestions on how to capture transmitted data from the QJ71E71-100 ethernet module. I need to send a ascii string via TCP connection and capture this data being transmitted. Just as a test for a new project. I would like to be able to view in notepad. Sorry if to vague. kaare_t Posted September 30, 2012 Report Posted September 30, 2012 http://www.wireshark.org/ Can capture any traffic on ethernet.... Even has a built in data viewer so you won't need notepad.... Quote
BAK96 Posted September 30, 2012 Author Report Posted September 30, 2012 Thank you, one more question, I want to send this data from my PLC to my laptop as a test so that I can capture and see how exactly how the string will be sent. What would I need to do in my laptop to set this up. Ultimately this data will be sent to a printer. I just need to do this as a test. Thank you for your time. Regards Quote
kaare_t Posted October 1, 2012 Report Posted October 1, 2012 I made an application a long time ago, it's a beta (or maybe even alpha) version, but it will do the job in this case. I've uploaded the software for you to install, it's freeware... See the picture, you can connect as a server, pointing the IP address and port number against your E71. THen click connect server (the computer will act as a server). Choose TCP, and encoding=string (you'll see the received data in cleartext). To you, and anyone who might download this: This is a BETA, I have not developed anything on this application the last years. I do not take any responsebility for the usage of this software!
