Browncd81 Posted October 15, 2012 Report Posted October 15, 2012 (edited) Hi, a brief introduction as this is my first post here. I am an electrical and process control department manager for a Hawaiian sugar company. My area of responsibility is pretty broad (hydros, TGs, transmission, distribution, electrical safety, instrumentation, spare parts, training, union issues, etc etc) - so as you can imagine my understanding of our process control suite: InTouch SCADA, PLC Network, Foxboro DCS, etc is 'high level' and admittedly 'black box' and not at the guru level as I'm sure is found on this board. My question is I'd like to start creating a routine customizable report that I can review daily. I don't mind hours and hours of setup and digging in the manuals up front as long as the final product is an efficient automated report that refreshes with the latest data easily and not something that requires cutting/pasting/settings manipulating/etc each day before it's usable. As you can guess my report would consist of important graphs (RTDs, I/V/PF/MW), alarm cut in and cut out times, PLC first out data, and tables of statistical summaries (max/min/avg/StDev). Here is my wishlist: I"d like to know if any of these are possible. Once I know that, I can pretty much dive in the manuals myself and experiment until I figure it out. 1) Set up a report that prints at 5:30 AM so it's sitting on the printer when I arrive. .. or... 2) #1 but emails to me at a preset time if cannot print automatically at a preset time.. or... 3) #1 but a file I open, such as an Excel or Word document using the Worksheet or Report query add-ins that is easy to populate the raw data and once I set up the graphs and tables up front it makes a clean update each iteration (basically, each day I open the file) .. or... 4) Be able to set up some graphs in Trend and then link the files so that I can quickly scroll through them. I have a bunch saved but it's very tedious opening reviewing, and closing them one at a time. Turns a 10 minute exercise into 30 with more time spent flipping files than reviewing data. I'd like them to be linked somehow so I can open a master file and then hit a 'next' arrow or 'right button' to see the next one just like a card deck. I tried the Trend Set feature thinking that was it, but when I open that it automatically prints them. Not really what I was hoping for. Sounds like it contradicts my wish list #1, but the way it prints them is a single page for each graph plus the time horizon and (I'm assuming) data point retrieval method is forced to be the same for each graph I'm thinking going down the list #3 is my first method that I think is actually supported in ActiveFactory, so I've skipped trying #1 and #2 and that's what I've begun to experiment with a little. Sorry in advance if this one gets asked a lot Edited October 15, 2012 by Browncd81
Browncd81 Posted October 15, 2012 Author Report Posted October 15, 2012 Oh and I'm aware of the product "HMI Reports" but would I be just paying for another product that all it does is simplify what can already be done with the Excel add-in and a little hard work up front?
mostafa Posted December 4, 2012 Report Posted December 4, 2012 i hope that i understand your problem well!do you test report section in citect? at there you can configure a report which you can difine destination, time, format and etc for your report.
