Rothman Posted September 17, 2013 Report Posted September 17, 2013 Hi, I've been having issues recently with configuring an FX3U-ENET adapter with an FX3G PLC. The adapter itself sits on the right side of the PLC after an additional input card. I'm using FX Configurator to set up the ethernet comms, but I cannot write the settings in via USB, as it tells me that it cannot detect USB communication. Checking this in the Transfer Settings of my GX Developer program tells me otherwise however, and because of this I can't get my ethernet comms set up. The setup itself consists of the PLC with the ENET card, routed into a hub, and an e1101 routed into the hub also. I have the e1101 IP address set to 192.168.1.1, my PC (which is linked to the hub as well as via USB to the PLC) set to 192.168.1.2, and I'm trying to write in through FX the IP of 192.168.1.10 to the PLC/ENET. I have checked the manual for the card and upgraded my version of GX Developer accordingly (compatible with 8.25 or later), but I have no idea where I'm going wrong with writing in the settings to the ENET via FX Configurator and why it won't allow me to via USB. Please bear with me as I'm a novice at this but I could really do with some help! My work day is over for now so I'll respond to any replies I get with additional info tomorrow if I can. I am on UK time. Thanks in advance.
Crossbow Posted September 17, 2013 Report Posted September 17, 2013 FX3G requires 8.68 or higher GX Developer if I remember right. And what version of the FX Configurtor-EN? Make sure you have the latest. The notes about 8.25 GX Developer apply to FX3U and FX3UC, not FX3G. FX3G is newer than those two. From the FX Configurator-EN manual, it saysa 8.72 or higher GX Developer for the USB function. In FX Configurator-EN did you select the USB (Built In) option for connection? And most importantly, are you pointing it at the right module number? If all you have to the left of it is inputs, then it's module 0.
Rothman Posted September 18, 2013 Author Report Posted September 18, 2013 Thanks for your response Crossbow, as a guide I have attached the setup of the PLC. I have 3 cards on the left; an FX3G-4AD-PT-ADP, FX3U-485MDP-AB and FX3G-CNV-ADP. On the right I have an FX3G-16EX card and the ethernet card itself. My understanding is that this would be set as module 1 in the FX configurator? My GX software is currently at version 8.80J. FX-Configurator is version 1.10. I have selected USB (Built In) for connection, and this is where it tells me that it cannot see the module.
Crossbow Posted September 18, 2013 Report Posted September 18, 2013 NO! The discrete I/O modules don't count when dealing with special function modules. That is the first special module and so is module 0.
Rothman Posted September 19, 2013 Author Report Posted September 19, 2013 Ok thanks. I'll press forward with the information you've given me. Trying to get any info here has been like getting blood from a stone.
