I realise this is a vague question - but I have to start somewhere. A customer has a Siemens colour touchscreen that is about 10 years old. Unfortunately, I do not know the model Number. The screen has gone very bright and they can only just make out the buttons etc I have not seen it recently, it was described on the phone. It is connected to a S7-300 PLC it's about 300mm X 300mm. (my guess) Is it possible for me to upload the HMI program and download it to a new same/similar HMI. If so, what software do I need and what lead? I have only ever worked on the S200 plc's and the little text HMI's - and then not very much. Thank you

You will need ProTool V6.0 or WinCC Flexible. Problem is, while downloading 10 years ago, if option "Enable back transfer" was set. If not (default, unfortunatelly), you will not be able to upload application. It option was cheked, you will be able to upload application and convert it to a newer HMI.

Hi, Another option, depending of the panel you have is to use the Prosave software that allow to upload a binary backup of the application that you can eventually downlowad to the same panel type. Be aware that not all panels allow it and once again the file you get is just a backup file that can't be modified or converted. JC Edited by acpi

Thank you for the replies. I find that bad that if you don't have the original, you are probably not going to be able to take the program out. They are lucky the original company is still in existence but they are going to have to purchase a screen with program from them. And have it shipped from Germany at an exorbitant price.
