Wumer Posted November 10, 2013 Report Posted November 10, 2013 Hi there, anyone could give me a brief idea of the differences between these plc's please??? Thank you.
PatrickL Posted November 11, 2013 Report Posted November 11, 2013 The SLC500 is a PLC from Rockwell, but I think that it is beeing fased out. Rockwell PLCs offered: For small jobs-Micrologix Medium jobs-CompactLogix Big jobs-Controllogix S7 Simatic is not a PLC... Siemens have S7-200 (For small jobs), S7-300 (Medium jobs) and S7-400 (Big jobs). My understanding is that they are being fased out, please correct me anyone If I am incorrect... Furthermore, Siemens latest plc: S7-1200 will be suitable for small to medium jobs and S7-1500 for big jobs. Again correct me anyone if I am incorrect... If your equipment is for the US market, I would recommend RockWell PLC - as they are very common there. If your equipment is for the European market, I would recommend Siemens - as they are the most commonly used PLCs here. My 2 cents
Groo Posted November 11, 2013 Report Posted November 11, 2013 S7-1200 is for small jobs, S7-200 is at a similar stage as SLC500's, maybe the 500's are more obsolete. The S7-1500 has only just come out and will be as said, but S7-300's and 400's are still the main at the moment.
