KAG Posted December 7, 2013 Report Posted December 7, 2013 Although I am not new to VFD's I am new to the in depth programming and the ABB brand. I have a unit I installed yesterday on a submersible pump that acted strangely. ABB feels it is a bad unit but I am looking for some feedback from people who do this regularly. Had a motor running quite normally, submersible pump, as it dropped the water level in the dewatering well it suddenly went into high current limit. A restart would only allow 22.5hz or thereabouts. After a little fooling around I was able to get it to run well on local control rather than the PID and transducer it was set up for. The strange part is that at 60hz the current draw on the pump is right on manufacturer's specs but the VFD shows the current reading 15% higher than the actual draw. Any thoughts? What would the vfd do in a locked rotor scenario? All ideas are welcome!
Highland Controls Posted December 10, 2013 Report Posted December 10, 2013 That all depends on how you have it set up. What model is this? For the most part, the drive will put out max current in a locked current situation, but will only do that for a short time. Do you have the proper group 99 parameters in there? Did you do an ID run?
