Am replacing older CJ1M PLC's with built in I/O to the CJ2M with the external Pulse I/O module. In both cases High Speed Counters HSC1 [input 6] and HSC0 [input 8] will be used in increment mode. On the CJ1M a note in the manual specifically states that input 7 and 9 CANNOT be used as normal inputs if HSC0 and HSC1 are defined in the PLC setup. On the CJ2M Pulse I./O modules this restriction is not noted. I would like to utilize inputs 7 and 9 as two additional spare inputs one the replacement CJ2M units while retaining HSC1 [input 6] and HSC0 [input8] in the increment mode. Anyone now [for sure] if this can be done. Thnks CJ1M Operation Manual Input Restrictions.pdf CJ2M Pulse IO module Input Restrictions.pdf

I have a CJ2M-CPU31 application that is using them that way. I have not had any problems with it. If you want to test it just to be safe, load your CJ1M program and force the I/O points On and Off to see if it bothers your application.
