Interfacing a DMX Controller

I want to interface a DMX controller with a PLC(probably siemens-S7 400/Schneider Quantum/GE Fanuc).The DMX Controller has a RS232 Serial port in it.The DMX Controller accepts and responds to serial port commands which are mainly ASCII commands. eg: "i00" for status "a" to start a show "b" to stop a show Please suggest how this device can be interfaced with the PLC and how this PLC can sent the commands and accept the response. The PLC is actually a part of a scada system which monitors the whole project.
