phild76 Posted February 20, 2014 Report Posted February 20, 2014 (edited) To any person that can be of help, Is there a way to get a 2D barcode scanner to work with a 1734-232ASC point I/O module over Ethernet? Currently, there is a standard barcode reader that is connected to this module that works, and my goal is to swap it for a 2D scanner. The problem lies when I connect the 2D barcode scanner. I cannot get any string data to show up in RsLogix5000. What can I do to try to resolve this issue? Edited March 2, 2014 by phild76
facesad Posted March 18, 2014 Report Posted March 18, 2014 i happen to know a 2D barcode scanner that will output string data to users,. but i am not sure whether it is compatible with RsLogix 5000, give a shot.
arronlee Posted May 6, 2014 Report Posted May 6, 2014 Hi, facesad. I wonder whether there are some differences between the 2D barcode scanner I am testing these days and the one you mentioned above? Any suggestion will be appreciated . Thanks in advance. Best regards, Arron
panic mode Posted May 10, 2014 Report Posted May 10, 2014 did anyone check basic things like interface type, wiring (DTE/DCE), and port settings? those are the most common pitfalls. for example both devices must use same port settings (baud rate, data bits, stop bits, parity ...), 1734-232ASC only has Tx, Rx and SG, therefore it cannot use hardware handshake etc. scanner with RS232 - TTL port will not work with standard RS232 port, etc.
