I was trying to connect my laptop to plc with cpu 315-2DP ,but it says "the link damaged". and the cable is PPI MULTI-MASTER CABLE with com serial port. I tried many times to set the dip-switch, but I couldn't get it. anyone know how to make the settings or how to make the connection work?

Hi, You haven't said what OS you are using but here is what seems have said to try: The "Multi Master Network" option has to be enabled in the settings of the PC/PPI cable in order to permit communication in the PPI network with the Multi Master function. If errors occur when working with the PPI Multi Master configuration, this might be due to the settings of the interface on your computer. Note: If you are working in Windows NT with a PC/PPI cable, then there should be no other masters in the network. Otherwise you cannot edit your interface settings as described below. Remedy: Right-click the "My Computer" icon and select "Properties". Open the "Device Manager" tab (in Windows 2000 you open the "Hardware" tab and select the "Device Manager" button). Double-click "Interfaces (COM and LPT)". Double-click the communication interface (e.g. COM1) that you are working with at the moment. In the "Interface Settings" tab you select the "Advanced" button. In the dialog box that opens you set the Receive and Send puffers to their lowest values. Restart your computer to make these settings effective. Once STEP 7 Micro/Win V3.2.x is installed, STEP 7 Micro/Win V2.x can no longer communicate via the Multi Master option in the PPI network. The Multi Master mode always works in conjunction with an MPI/PROFIBUS card in the PC. Note: In some computers even changing the interface settings does not remedy the problem. Critical here is the response time of the COM port. If it is too slow, then the hardware is responsible for the lack of communication in the PPI network with the Multi Master configuration. The Multi Master mode functionality is supported if you use the "new" PC/PPI cables in STEP 7 Micro/WIN V 3.2 +SP4 S7-200 RS-232/PPI Multi Master cable (6ES7 901-3CB30-0XA0) S7-200 USB/ PPI Multi Master cable (6ES7 901-3DB30-0XA0) Alternatives to using the PC/PPI cable are the MPI/PROFIBUS cards CP 5511, CP 5611 and CP5512. These definitely support the Multi Master mode. Hope this helps Ordax
