stgpereira Posted March 7, 2015 Report Posted March 7, 2015 Hi all. I'm trying connecting a Brainchild HMI1050 with Siemens S7-300 using MPI protocol. I have 2 serial connectors in the HMI: 1 DB25 (RS485, pins 12 and 13) and 1 DB9 (RS232, pins 2 and 3). I have the same answer: PLC no response. Please, someone can help me or indicate some tutorial? Thanks by the help and best regards. Quote
Mark- Posted March 7, 2015 Report Posted March 7, 2015 Hello, #1 I do not see a ground pin. #2 Which serial to MPI convertor are you using? Quote
stgpereira Posted March 8, 2015 Author Report Posted March 8, 2015 Hello. Sorry, I forgot best details. What I tried: 1) S7-300 MPI (DB9) <----------------> HMI BRAINCHILD (DB9 / RS232 / COM 1) ========================================================== NAME <----------------------------------> NAME RD ( PIN 2 ) <-------------------------> TD ( PIN 3 ) SD ( PIN 3 ) <-------------------------> RD ( PIN 2 ) SG ( PIN 5 ) <-------------------------> SG ( PIN 5 ) RTS ( PIN 7 ) <-------------------------> CTS ( PIN 8 ) CTS ( PIN 8 ) <-------------------------> RTS ( PIN 7 ) 2) S7-300 MPI (DB9)<--------------------> HMI BRAINCHILD (DB25 / RS232 / COM 2) ========================================================== NAME <-----------------------------------> NAME RD ( PIN 2 ) <-------------------------> TD ( PIN 2 ) SD ( PIN 3 ) <-------------------------> RD ( PIN 3 ) SG ( PIN 5 ) <-------------------------> SG ( PIN 7 ) RTS ( PIN 7 ) <-------------------------> CTS ( PIN 5 ) CTS ( PIN 8 ) <-------------------------> RTS ( PIN 4 ) And last attempt: 3) S7-300 MPI (DB9) <----------------> HMI BRAINCHILD (DB25 / RS485 / COM 2) ========================================================== NAME <-----------------------------------------> NAME TXD/RXD+ ( PIN 3) <-------------------------> TXDA ( PIN 12 ) TXD/RXD- ( PIN 8 ) <-------------------------> TXDB ( PIN 13 ) SG ( PIN 5 ) <-------------------------> SG ( PIN 7 ) In all attempts, the answer was the same: "PLC without response" Thanks for attention. Mark- Posted March 8, 2015 Report Posted March 8, 2015 Hello, You did not answer #2. You need a serial to MPI convertor. Quote
stgpereira Posted March 9, 2015 Author Report Posted March 9, 2015 (edited) Thank you. I thought they were just simple connections like I posted (answer #1). I will buy a new Siemens cable. Best regards Edited March 9, 2015 by stgpereira Quote
