kaiser_will Posted March 18, 2015 Report Posted March 18, 2015 We are a machine OEM, and one of our older machines had the Giddings & Lewis (G&L/Kollmorgen) controller fail. Customer production is down and they did not have a spare controller. This G&L M.1302.5109 controller is obsolete but has a replacement controller that is not like-for-like. We dropped in the replacement controller and it executes so much faster that the program does not sequence properly all of the time (i.e., exposes holes in the program code). Anyway, if we have to edit the controller program to resolve the code execution, the machine will have to be re-qualified (which typically takes 1 week of time and 10-15 technical people to document). If I can get my hands on the same controller, we can get them in operation. So, I have personally used many surplus controls suppliers before for Allen-Bradley, etc. I am striking out on this G&L part. Does anybody have any go-to surplus controls suppliers? I have used Santa Clara Systems and Industrial Control & Repair before, but they both do not have stock of this item. Thank you. Quote
Crossbow Posted March 19, 2015 Report Posted March 19, 2015 I've worked with a few. Not sure about G&L stuff though. www.plccenter.com www.sterlingservices.com Quote
