kaiser_will Posted August 26, 2015 Report Posted August 26, 2015 Has anyone had experience using a 3rd party HMI application software on KEP Marine HMIs? The HMI features in the KEP Marine Infilink HMI development software does not have enough glitz for some of our customers. We like the durability of KEP Marine HMIs, in the harsh marine environment. These HMIs communicate Ethernet with Wago 750 PLCs.
Ken Roach Posted August 28, 2015 Report Posted August 28, 2015 They're ordinary Windows PCs, aren't they ? My go-to HMI is Indusoft Web Studio. The graphics are "glitzy" enough that I can make a good-looking HMI and the underlying technology is powerful enough I can do pretty much anything I want with VBScript and internal features.
kaiser_will Posted September 3, 2015 Author Report Posted September 3, 2015 I had to dig into the situation more. KEP Marine monitors that network into an industrial PC or a marine navigation black box. The industrial PC runs a SCADA package I am not familiar with yet, Infilink. Since it is a marine application, durability is very key. PLC communication is Modbus TCP over Ethernet. Ideally, we want to have a very sleek HMI that also has the ability to be viewed/controlled from a smart phone or tablet.
