mjrx Posted November 22, 2015 Report Posted November 22, 2015 I have several 3 wire rtd's about 50 feet or so from my Plc input module. I was planning on using a high quality 3/c shielded cable for them. Is this acceptable wire, or is RTD wire necasary for this? Thanks.
Mendon Systems Posted November 22, 2015 Report Posted November 22, 2015 The wire that Omega lists for RTDs is just copper cable so you should be fine. Thermocouples require special cable. http://www.omega.com/pptst/RTD_Extwire.html
DanW Posted November 22, 2015 Report Posted November 22, 2015 The sensor vendors sell cable with color coded conductors, one red, two whites, which makes it nice and easy when connecting to the host end. But any copper cable with enough conductors will for work for RTDs.
