There is an area on this site where you can download sample programs.

There is an STL programming example for Mitsubishi there.

You will then see how STL programming should be correctly programmed.

 

It is better to ignore completely the mistsi manual (STL section) as they are still using examples of STL code that cannot be put into the code as shown.

I know for a fact that the manual being wrong puts so many people off programming in this mode - and quirks aside it is a beautiful way of programming.
