Guest Trevor White Posted November 4, 2004 Report Posted November 4, 2004 Hi, First time here. I am learning about plc prog on the run. I am using a laptop with Win2k and the FXGP v2.1 that I have does not want to run, I get the message c:\winnt\system32\autoexec.nt. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. I NEED HELP Thanks Trev.
Crossbow Posted November 4, 2004 Report Posted November 4, 2004 That software was never meant to run on Windows NT (or 2000 or XP since they are NT based). You should consider an upgrade to the current GX-Developer 8.12.
larry818 Posted November 6, 2004 Report Posted November 6, 2004 Or use Medoc 2.3 or 2.4, if budget is an issue, it runs on any version of windows. You can sometimes find it cheap on ebay or for free from someone who's not using it any more.
Guest Albert Fanakapan Posted November 7, 2004 Report Posted November 7, 2004 See if you can find an old version of GPPWIN. Its obsolete now (I have it - but never use it) Its windows based (and can be fooled to run correctly in XP by using compatability mode) It covers most CPU's except latest Q series. I had to upgrade because it had trouble comunicating with A series through HMI's (transparent mode) It did always communicate but after 4 or 5 attempts. GX dev is just a pretty-ed up version of GPPWIN (with later CPU's) and a few faults ironed out.
Guest SMC Posted November 18, 2004 Report Posted November 18, 2004 Albert Larry & chris, so u like him to upgrade it to gx developer, but is it a demo ? at www.meau.com ??
Guest SMC Posted November 18, 2004 Report Posted November 18, 2004 does gx developer compatible with A1N????
navillusi Posted November 18, 2004 Report Posted November 18, 2004 In short, yes, GX Developer is compatable with A1N, the software will cover Fx, A, QnA and Qn, what it will not program are very old plc's such as F1, F2, K
Crossbow Posted November 18, 2004 Report Posted November 18, 2004 Your best bet (although usually most expensive) is to get the latest software which should be tested for the latest operating systems. I understand that most people don't have a budget for this type of thing, but there are certainly usually less issues with the latest software. I know some people here don't like GX-Developer, but it does work on all versions of Windows, including 2K and XP. Personally, I've only looked at MEDOC a little bit. I've been a Windows programmer for as long as I've been doing PLCs, so I prefer the GUI interface and some of the tools in GX-Developer 8.12N. For whoever asked, yes the download at www.meau.com is a demo copy. It's a time-limited 15-day version. But it is the full software for those 15 days.
