Wade Greene Posted March 11, 2016 Report Posted March 11, 2016 I am in the process of replacing a Siemens S5 155U system. The system has 8 racks of IO and I want to replace a rack at a time. Can l remove the wiring harness from the front of the IO cards on a particular rack (leave the rack and the communication cable) without causing a fault in the processor?
tecnoplc Posted March 15, 2016 Report Posted March 15, 2016 Hi: you can remove the cables if you need it, But better for the CPU is to do it without power in the CPU. If you remove the cables with the power ON, maybe you can damage something about the CPU or some other modules. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- www.tecnoplc.com
pop29684 Posted March 28, 2016 Report Posted March 28, 2016 Is it possible to remove one harness from one I/O card on the 155U system and expect the 155U system to continue to function with missing I/O? What is the system with which you intend to replace the 155U system? Will it function with only partial I/O connected?
