Pulse counting via profibus

Does anyone know of a standalone device that will sit on as a node on Profibus D.P. and take a 150Hz pulse, then convert it to number that the PLC can use (to measure speed in this case) reading it direvctly over the profibus network? The customer specification requires that I do this in 2 PLCs using different algorithms. One PLC is already counting pulses per unit time directly and we don't wish to try to measure time between pulses for the second PLC. Hence this idea. Thanks, David Austin

The Siemens FM 350-2 counter can read a pulse and report it as a total count, frequency, speed, etc. This is an 8 channel card but they may have smaller/cheaper options. This is a standard card that connects to the PLC rack but you can place it on an I/O rack with an ET 200M (IM 153-1) DP Slave to make it accessable through Profibus along with any other I/O you want.
