How to connect PG2000 to S5-95U using RS232/TTY + converter

Hi,

I've recently bought a generic RS232/TTY cable for Siemens S5 PLC. I also bought a RS232 -> USB converter to connect the cable to my laptop. My problem is that when I connect from S5 to Laptop and run PG2000, I cannot load anything from the PLC as the program gets stuck. I think nothing is being read from the converter. Please help.

First of all:

if the black cable is the one from converter, then you have connect them into a wrong plug.

It must be connected to PG marked (the one close to orange EPROM).

If it is safe, disconnect the existing cable and put yours into PG marked plug.

Thanks for the reply.  Are you referring to this picture? Do you mean to say that the DB15 should be connected to the PG port (the silver one plug beside the EEPROM) ?

Yes,

is that I want to say on my previous post.

the actual place where your black cable is connected belong to analog inputs signals.

No, you need only the driver of your USB-RS232. (As you asked on other forum)

Thanks for the advice! PG2000 is now able to read the data. Now my next problem is debugging the error.

The HMI is connected to PLC?

Is the cable that you disconnected from PG port back on his place?
