kshithapragjni Posted December 14, 2004 Report Posted December 14, 2004 hi i'm a final year engg student and am completely at a loss as to a project that i'm supposed to submit on PLCs. some topics seem too big for a two month project(shared by two people) . the shorter ones look too simple. i'm lost people . it would be wonderful if someone could recommend a good topic . or if you could atleast guide me to some place where i could find a couple of completed projects so that i can catch a glimpse of one is supposed to look . all help is immensely appreciated thanks-a-lot p.s - mind that i'm a raw newbie and know as much about PLC as einstein on the theory of evolution ( ) Quote
Ken Moore Posted December 14, 2004 Report Posted December 14, 2004 Is this a software or hardware project? Do you have to build a working model of something that utilizes a PLC for control of the system? Or, do you just have to do the software part? Quote
Guest Posted December 14, 2004 Report Posted December 14, 2004 Greetings kshithapragjni, besides all the things that Ken has mentioned ... please tell us (a simple list will do) some of the PLC subjects that you've already studied ... surely this "final project" assignment didn't just get dropped on you with absolutely NO prior preparation ... so tell us what hardware and software you have available ... and what you already know about the PLC subject ... give us an idea of your budget (in case you need to buy additional supplies) ... and we'll see if we can make some suggestions as to where to go from here ... and have you already taken a look at the projects done by previous classes? ... I'm not suggesting that you copy any of these ... but just looking at what has been done before should help you come up with some ideas ... we hope to hear from you again soon ... best regards, Ron Quote

Guest Guest_kshithapragjni Posted December 23, 2004 Report Posted December 23, 2004 thanks ken and ron . i am yet to get in to the organisation that is supposed to certify and guideme with the project so i dont know what is available with them . i wll update as soon as possible .my problem is simply that these people who are officially supposd to guide me are either too busy with the jobs that pay them or have no prior experience with plc's and had to be assigned the job because of lack of human resource . i have taken a basic course on microprocessors(8085,8086,68xxx) and digital logic design and am basically an electrical student . i'm not sure if it helps . all i learnt about plcs was a newbie tutorial i downloaded from one of these websites Quote
