omron cx-programmer version

Hello
I am new in the field of PLC especially the PLC omron.actually I have to communicate with the PLC omron cj1m-cpu 22 installed in an industrial machine manufactured in 2008.I have the software cx-programmer version 7.2
My question can I communicate with this PLC using cx-programmer version 7.2 or should I use an earlier version(I worry about the version)

You should upgrade to the newest version. Currently v9.6. Omron is very good with backward compatibility.

so if i upgrade to the version 9.6 i will communicate with the PLC even if the machine is manufactured in 2008.

No problem communicating CJ1M with upgrade to CX Programmer 9.6

CX-Programmer can communicate back to PLCs from the late 1980s.  new version is all you need.  Not 17 versions of software for different firmware hardware like Rockwell.

I have other questions please,for the communication do I need another software like rslinx in rockwell? can I upload/download the program without stopping the machine?

CX-Programmer is part of the CX-One package which contains everything that you need for communication.

You can read programs from a running PLC . You can make program changes online while the PLC is running. You must place the PLC in program mode to download a complete program which stops the PLC.
