amccaffe Posted July 24, 2017 Report Posted July 24, 2017 Hello All, I am trying to get an older GP2401H (Proface HMI) to communicate with a newer CJ2H (Omron PLC). Everything I tried has failed. I think my problem is on the PLC side. Below are the details... ...Proface... GP2401H-TC41-24V GP-PRO/PB3 for Windows ...Omron PLC... CJ2H-CPU66-EIP Need to use the serial port on the CJ2H because the GP is only serial (RS232). Thanks for checking this out and please let me know what you think.
BobB Posted July 24, 2017 Report Posted July 24, 2017 Omron RS232 ports are not standard - check the wiring. Also make sure the Proface has the right driver.
amccaffe Posted July 25, 2017 Author Report Posted July 25, 2017 Here is the wiring diagram I used... I'm starting to think my problem is the drivers. The older Proface does not have a driver for the CJ2 series PLC, only the CJ1. I used the driver for the CJ1 with the hope it would also work with the CJ2. No luck. There must be a difference between protocols used be the CJ2 versus the CJ1 PLCs.
Michael Walsh Posted July 25, 2017 Report Posted July 25, 2017 The CJ1 protocol should mostly work. Is it a Host Link driver? It is necessary that you set the port up to match the settings coming from the HMI. There are also a dip switch that needs to be set correctly that specifies whether the port is using the default config or one that is set by the user.
