wlederer Posted August 10, 2018 Report Posted August 10, 2018 Hi, I am new in Unity Pro and trying to make connection between PLC (Modicon M580) and HMI (Magelis HMIG3U) over Ethernet cable. Question: What is meaning of 0.0 : EIO : CommHeadDIOL2 (look the picture attached)? Which IP address does it define and what for?
gclshortt Posted August 10, 2018 Report Posted August 10, 2018 I have not used your setup before but... CommHead - Communication Heading Currently it looks like you are showing the Security tab. Move to the IPConf (IP Configuration) tab to set the configuration. The following links may help you out.http://www.plctalk.net/qanda/showthread.php?t=92751http://www.plctalk.net/qanda/showthread.php?t=82781 Regards, Garry
wlederer Posted August 13, 2018 Author Report Posted August 13, 2018 Hi Garry, thank You for the answer. How would You recommend to configure communication between M580 and HMIG3U ? What is the easiest way? regards, Wal
gclshortt Posted August 13, 2018 Report Posted August 13, 2018 Hi Wal, Port502 looks to be the setup for Modbus TCP. This would be the protocol that I would use since this is a Modicon product. (Schneider Electric) Here are some links that help to describe the modbus protocol:https://www.rtaautomation.com/technologies/modbus-tcpip/http://www.simplymodbus.ca/TCP.htm Ethernet IP (EIP) would be my next choice. Regards, Garry
wlederer Posted August 14, 2018 Author Report Posted August 14, 2018 Thank You Garry. I used Modbus TCP before. Where in the Unity Pro do I have to set something to choose Modbus TCP or Ethernet IP? Is it in Communication>Networks>Add Network..?
