ro4015 Posted July 8, 2019 Report Posted July 8, 2019 All of my experience with PLCs so far has been Allen Bradley (PLC 5, SLC 500, Control Logix), and I am now needing to work on GE fanuc 90-70 and 90-30 kit. What is the difference between two? And if I did a training course on a 90-30, as those are the only ones I can seem to find, would that be suitable for working on a 90-70 as it is th esame software etc. Quote
Steve Bailey Posted July 8, 2019 Report Posted July 8, 2019 They are both obsolete. Both were introduced in 1990. The 90-30 is similar in size and capability to the SLC 500. The 90-70 compares to the PLC5. If you are already familiar with the basic concepts of PLCs you should not have great difficulty learning your way around the GE 90 series. Just try not to get frustrated when the things you are accustomed to doing under RS Logix have to be done differently under Proficy Machine Edition. Quote
ro4015 Posted July 9, 2019 Author Report Posted July 9, 2019 Thanks, I was hoping it was like going from PLC 5 to SLC, or vice versa. So that’s put my mind at ease. Quote
