Guest tdamtsis Posted February 22, 2005 Report Posted February 22, 2005 Hi, can anybody help me about the issue of harmonics? I believe I know about theory, but I need practical advices (software, equipment, literature), in order to eliminate them. I am in the phase of starting a new project, trying to reduce the cost of energy in the production line of my factory. Thanks in advance. Quote
larry818 Posted July 27, 2005 Report Posted July 27, 2005 I think what you are looking for is power factor correction devices. Google that term and you'll find lots of products/capacitors/info. Quote
GerryM Posted July 27, 2005 Report Posted July 27, 2005 I think Larry is right. Harmonics are usually only an issue with large motor drives in the thousands of HP. If your really not sure perhaps an electrical engineering consultant could help you determine what you need. Quote
PdL Posted July 31, 2005 Report Posted July 31, 2005 Higher harmonics are especially an issue if you running relatively large loads by frequency drives on a generator net. Then a few hundred HP can be enough. All depends on the capacity of the net. Especially electronic equipment with transformers in the same net are affected by these harmonics. I found some reading on this in the manuals of Omron drives. See attatched. Harmonics.pdf Quote
