1. I am designing a lift for 50 floors,

2. i need methodology for this,

3. how to decide floor position, stoppage, starting. accuracy.

4. if this is encoder based or how?

5. drive type?

6. motor type?

7. motor braking methodology?

And barely any of this relates to PLC's but anyway I'll throw you a bone. 

Look up the 'mrmattandmrchay' youtube channel, they have produced a number of videos relating to an older relay operated lift.

That will probably answer all your questions.
