SKA AB Posted March 21, 2022 Report Posted March 21, 2022 Hi. Is there anything one can do, so the softna project wont go corrupt if the panel is power cycled? We're currently building the system and sometimes stuff needs to be power cycled, and nobody powers off the panel before hitting the main switch. Quote
kckku Posted March 21, 2022 Report Posted March 21, 2022 Is this a problem with power cycling? How do you recover? We are also thinking of using the Soft-NA for an upcoming project so this will be good to know before we commit. Quote
photovoltaic Posted March 21, 2022 Report Posted March 21, 2022 Sorry, so you're looking for someone with a soft-na to test a hard reset for project corruption? I have a license Quote
photovoltaic Posted March 21, 2022 Report Posted March 21, 2022 Did a quick test. I found that: The project was not corrupted in anyway The most recent trend data was lost. How much data will depend on the settings for your trending There were a few warnings at startup that you just click OK on and the application loads. Quote

When it boots bak up and starts SoftNA, then it says project is corrupted. In the start meny under omron folder, click on the soft na folder and in there you have a project clearer software to clear it up, then you just re-download from sysmac. Quote

No, i was looking for a solution not making my soft na say the project is corrupt in an event of power loss on the panel the softna is installed on. I was unable to recreate this. I am running it on a laptop and I can't remove the battery so not a true power loss I suppose. Quote
panic mode Posted March 21, 2022 Report Posted March 21, 2022 not familiar with the product but using backup UPS is one common way to deal with power loss. the other is to use a startup script and overwrite project by clean copy before launching software that uses it. Quote
Crossbow Posted March 21, 2022 Report Posted March 21, 2022 I have use Soft-NA for months and powered off PC many times, never had a program corruption issue. Quote

This is wierd. Its a brand ned beckhoff computer and a touch screen connected to it. Running win 10 of some kind, new softna installation with current latest version. Downloading like normal to the computer, but a power loss corrupts the hmi project files.. Quote
pturmel Posted March 22, 2022 Report Posted March 22, 2022 Is it embedded Win10? Does it have the "write filter" technology enabled? If so, you'll need to disable that for writes to survive a power cycle. (But turn it back on when the setup is stable--it protects against malware and other corruption causes.) Quote

The beckhoff computer is running Win 10 Enterprise LTSB. No filter activated to my knowledge. But since yesterday, the project does not seem to get corrupt anymore. Quote
