tommohar Posted April 8, 2005 Report Posted April 8, 2005 I know this isn't really a PLC topic but does anyone use AB's 193-EC overload relays? I am looking for an inexpensive way to monitor motor current over a network and this OL seemed interesting...Any info would be appreciated!
TechJunki Posted April 8, 2005 Report Posted April 8, 2005 I have used these in some applications, they work well for the most part. I have had a few failures when using these with large contactors that have a fairly high cycle rate. It seems the slamming of the contactor has been the route cause of the failures from poor solder connections in the overload. But overall I have had good success with these overloads. Would probably be a good pick for your application... JJ
tommohar Posted April 8, 2005 Author Report Posted April 8, 2005 ...For the particular application I have, there would be several motors but all under 5 hp with very little cycling. The bigger drives are VFD. Sounds like a winner to me.. Thanks Tom
Guest HalBishop Posted April 9, 2005 Report Posted April 9, 2005 I have used a number of the E3 overload relays for current monitoring via devicenet. They work fairly well. I have not seen any of the solder problems but the application did not have a high cyclic rate
