TW212 Posted November 17, 2022 Report Posted November 17, 2022 Hello, I have been tasked with taking an upload from PLC/HMI of an old test rig that has been lying idle for years. I am having a great deal of difficulty connecting. I believe the IP is 192.168.250.1 as when I send pings via cmd every packet is received. Would anyone be able to help as I have spent multiple days on this this with no success. Attempted to use both Ethernet and Usb-serial. Quote
gtsuport Posted November 17, 2022 Report Posted November 17, 2022 Good Morning, Guessing the CPU is CJ1M-CPUxx-ETN? This cable would allow you to connect the the 9 pin port on the PLC and the HMI. https://www.plccable.com/omron-plc-cable-usb-c200hs-cn220-eu/ This cable would connect to the peripheral port on the PLC. https://www.plccable.com/omron-plc-programming-cable-usb-cs1w-cn226-cs1wcn226-usb-version/ What is the part number of the HMI? We may be able to verify the IP addressing using the HMI setup. gtsuport Quote
TW212 Posted November 18, 2022 Author Report Posted November 18, 2022 Thanks for your reply! So, you are saying a standard USB - Serial cable will not work? The HMI is: NS8-TV01-V2 Thanks again! Quote
gtsuport Posted November 18, 2022 Report Posted November 18, 2022 The issue is USB to Serial converters are not all the same. We have had the best success with FTDI chipset converters. Others seem to work sometimes, but not always. Also note that the Omron 9 pin port is NOT a standard pinout. See attached. Quote
photovoltaic Posted November 18, 2022 Report Posted November 18, 2022 Most USB to serial converters have the IBM DB9 Pinout (even Omron's own converter has this) - use this cable to communicate with an Omron PLC: 1 Quote
TW212 Posted November 21, 2022 Author Report Posted November 21, 2022 Thank you both, passed on information and a new (correct) cable is on the way! Quote
BobB Posted November 21, 2022 Report Posted November 21, 2022 USB would be the best bet for mine. It should work easily. Quote
