Convert a symbol to a Word Lamp

Hi

I have designed some symbols in my library, and i wish to convert them to a word lamp, for use on my home screen.  In word lamp menu, i select shape, go to my library, select the object and then the pop sign says,  "data that contains an object or unsupported figure cannot be selected" any advice would be great fully received
